One of the most misleading things about social media is that a post can look successful while doing almost nothing for your business.
It can receive thousands of views.
It can collect likes and replies.
It can even go viral.
But if the right people do not follow you, join your email list or become customers, what did that attention actually create?
I learned this on Instagram.
I had videos go viral, but the conversion into email subscribers was painfully low.
The problem was not reach.
The problem was the journey after someone discovered me.
Threads taught me to look at content differently.
A post does not need to reach everyone. It needs to make the right person think:
"This person understands my problem. I want to see what they share next."
That requires three things.
First, the post must attract the person you actually want to help.
Generic motivational content may attract attention, but it rarely makes your expertise clear.
Second, the post must create a reason to visit your profile.
Useful frameworks, strong opinions, specific results and open loops give readers a reason to learn more about you.
Third, your profile must finish the conversion.
When someone visits, they should immediately understand:
Who you help
What problem you solve
Why they should follow you
What they should do next
This is why I track more than views.
I look at which posts produce profile visits, followers, email subscribers and sales.
A post with 2,000 views that creates 20 relevant followers can be more valuable than a post with 100,000 views that attracts the wrong audience.
Here is a quick exercise you can use today.
Look at your three most viewed posts from the last seven days and ask:
Would my ideal customer care about this topic?
Does this make my expertise obvious?
Does it give the reader a reason to visit my profile?
Does my profile give them a clear reason to follow?
If the answer is no, your problem may not be reach.
It may be conversion.
Reply with your Threads handle if you want me to look at your profile and tell you the first thing I would improve.
